Reflection with Mother Rivier   Holy Saturday, April 11

Readings of the Day:

There are no readings for during the day on Holy Saturday, because there is no Mass until the Easter Vigil.  Those readings are listed below.  The following reading is from the Gospel of Luke.

Word of God:

Joseph of Arimathaea went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.  He then took it down, wrapped it in a shroud and put it in a tomb which was hewn in stone and which had never held a body…Meanwhile the women who had come from Galilee with Jesus were following behind.  They took note of the tomb and how the body had been laid.  Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments.  And on the Sabbath day they rested as the Law required.  Luke 23:52-56

A Word from Mother Rivier:

It is he (Jesus), through the words of his mouth, who revealed the truths of the Gospel and taught us the ways of salvation; he who cured the sick and raised the dead by the touch of his hands whose blessing and power filled the world with miracles.  This heart, then, burning with love, was the cause of all that Jesus did for us through the tears of his eyes, the words of his mouth, the works of his hands, and all the labors, sweat, and suffering of his body.                 Spiritual Writings, p. 33
